An important and unrecorded Liverpool large tureen and cover

An important and unrecorded Liverpool large lobed oval tureen and cover, the two twig cluster loop handles and loop knop with finely modelled applied leaf terminals, painted in underglaze blue in Chinese style with a fisherman and a bridge in a river landscape with rockwork, the cover painted with a figure on a bridge, pavilions and fences, within a hatched line border, 14" wide overall, Richard Chaffer's Factory, circa 1758-60, no mark

This newly discovered tureen, in immaculate condition, and of remarkable scale, shows not only the quality of the Chaffers painters at this time, but also their modelling skills - the handle terminals and applied leaves are exceptionally fine
