A rare Worcester teacup and saucer

A rare Worcester teacup and saucer, the cup with loop handle, unusually painted in coloured enamels in the London atelier of James Giles with sprays of European flowers and leaves and scattered flowers, gilt line borders, circa 1768, blue crossed swords and numeral 9 marks

See Stephen Hanscombe, James Giles, China and Glass Painter, number 8, for another teacup and saucer and a coffee can from this service. The author notes this is one of the rare Giles patterns where the decoration on each piece of the service is virtually identical

See also Robyn Robb, 2007 Exhibition, number 4, for another teacup and saucer from this service
