A Royal Copenhagen round tureen and cover, from the Fuglestellet or ' Bird Service', with two leaf moulded handles and scroll knop with applied coloured flowers and leaves, finely painted in coloured enamels with naturalistic birds in landscapes, within gilt cartouches, and with winged insects, on a spirally fluted ground, on four scroll feet, 10 7/8" wide, circa 1780, painted mark in blue

Provenance; This service, which comprised 627 pieces, was the first large scale dinner service produced by the Royal Copenhagen factory. Pieces from the service are now in the David Collection Museum, Copenhagen, and the New Carsberg Foundation Museum
