William Webster, A fine 18th century bracket clock

William Webster, Exchange Alley, London, A fine 18th century bracket clock, the brass and silvered dial with date aperture, mock pendulum and strike/silent and subsidiary dial in the arch, and signed 'William Webster, Exchange Alley, London', eight day striking movement, with pull repeat, and engraved back plate, the brass mounted ebonised case with brass handle and pierced ebonised fret panels, on brass feet, 17 1/4" high overall, with original winding key

William Webster was Free of the Clockmaker's Company in 1710. He was apprenticed to Thomas Tompion and continued as his journeyman until Tompion died in 1713. Webster died in 1737.
