A rare Derby biscuit porcelain figure of a young man, probably modelled by Joseph Spengler, seated on a rocky mound, and playing a pipe, on detachable 'D' shaped plinth, 10 1/4" high, circa 1795, incised crowned crossed batons mark, model number 394 and repairer's marks

This figure is taken from the rear model in the important Derby 'The Russian Shepherds' group, an example of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum
