A superb Chamberlain's Worcester plate, from The King of Hanover Service, powerfully painted in coloured enamels, probably by John Wood, with a figure of Satan before clouds, within a roundel, the blue ground border with gilt pendant leaves, 9 1/2" diameter, circa 1796, titled 'Satan vide Paradise Lost' verso

Provenance; From a service said to have been presented to the King of Hanover. The majority of the service was in the Collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and remains at Clarence House.
