A pair of Japanese Imari ovoid vases and domed covers, each finial in the form of a bird perched on flowers and rockwork, unusually applied in relief with flowering prunus, within arched panels painted with birds and bamboo, on a ground of phoenix and flowering branches, the shoulder with a band of scrolling flowers and leaves, 18 1/2" high, circa 1700
