A rare Worcester flared oval sauceboat

A rare Worcester flared oval sauceboat, the angular loop handle with scroll thumbpiece, painted in coloured enamels in Chinese style with a long billed bird amidst leaves, within a shield shaped cartouche surmounted by a shell beneath the lip, and arched and fan shaped panels of flowers, leaves and rockwork, the interior painted with trailing flowers and leaves, 6" long, circa 1753-54, no mark

See The Cohen Collection, Albert Amor Limited, 1992, number 3, for another sauceboat of this rare form, but with the bird placed in the central cartouche. Another, but with differing moulding to the current example, is in the Victoria and Albert Museum
