A rare early Worcester sauceboat, the loop handle with leaf moulded thumbpiece, painted in coloured enamels in Chinese style with two figures beneath a parasol in a garden, the reverse with a lady with a fan in a garden with pine trees, each within a flower and scroll moulded cartouche, the interior painted in famille verte palette with a flower spray, within flower panelled green and iron red diaper borders, 9" long, circa 1752-53, no mark

Provenance; English Private Collection

This extraordinary sauceboat, of a form associated with Worcester pedestal examples, has lost the pedestal foot at some point during the manufacturing process, but continued to be decorated and issued for sale. We do not record a similar example in our archive
