A rare Bow figure of a Shepherd Boy Piper, in Highland costume, standing, wearing a blue cap and tartan sash, over a puce jacket, and playing bagpipes, a recumbent lamb at his feet, the mound base applied with coloured flowers and leaves, 6" high, circa 1756-58, no mark

See Peter Bradshaw, Bow Porcelain Figures, page 152, figure 158, for a conventional version of this figure. Following the Dress Act of 1746, tartan cloth was banned until 1782, so it's depiction on this figure is extremely rare
