A superb pair of Derby large vases and covers

A superb pair of Derby large ovoid vases and covers, each with two winged female caryatid handles, finely painted in coloured enamels with named landscapes, probably by John Brewer, within oval gilt panels, on a gilt scroll ground, beneath a moulded band of prowling lions and grotesque masks, picked out in gilt, on leaf moulded stem and square base, 15 1/2" high, circa 1815, crowned crossed batons marks in red and titled beneath

See John Twitchett, Derby Porcelain, pages 140 and 141, for earlier vases of this form
